Can an electric van be charged while it’s being driven?

Currently the technology isn’t quite there to allow electric vans to charge themselves as you drive – but it hasn’t been ruled out for the future.

But many electric vans do use regenerative braking to help harvest otherwise wasted energy created when you use the brake pedal. This can help improve the battery’s efficiency by providing it with charge.

There are also self-charging hybrids: vans that combine electric power with the combustion engine and don’t need to be plugged in to charge. The electric battery acts as a supplement to the combustion engine.
